Spreenhagen village church

The Protestant village church Spreenhagen is a hall church in the arched style in Spreenhagen , a municipality in the Oder-Spree district in the state of Brandenburg . The church belongs to the parish of Oderland-Spree of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Oberlausitz .

location

The main road runs in a west-east direction as a central connecting axis through the place. On the village green, the Alte Dorfstraße, which runs south, spans an elliptical area. There the church stands on a property that is not fenced in .

history

The sacred building was erected in 1855 and received an extension in the north and a north-west tower between 1901 and 1903 . The style of the church is reminiscent of the Kagel village church , which was built between 1869 and 1871. From 1996 to 1997 the parish restored the building.

Building description

West portal

The church was essentially built of yellowish brick on a base of uncut and not layered field stones . The apse is semicircular and strongly drawn in, in the center is a circular screen with a cross made of masonry stones. There is a surrounding frieze at the transition to the eaves .

This is followed by the nave . Its corners are emphasized by pilaster strips . The east wall is closed. In the gable are four narrow and high rectangular panels; at the southern corner of the pilasters a cross made of brick. There is another frieze at the transition to the roof. On the northern side there is a small annex with a rectangular floor plan, which can be entered via two doors from the north and east. Next to the arched gates is a segmental arched window. On the north side of the nave, two connected extensions dominate. They each have a rectangular floor plan and are elaborately designed on their north side. On each facade there are three large, round-arch-shaped panels, of which the middle one extends into the gable. In the lower area in each panel there are two segment-arch-shaped panels with two coupled, pressed-segment-arched windows each. Above that there is a white plastered field and another window. In the gable there is a quatrefoil with a slot-shaped opening on the roof ridge. The southern nave is much simpler. There are four segment-arch-shaped openings in the lower area, which were carefully closed with masonry stones. The original location and size can, however, still be recognized by the arch stones that remained in the facade. Above it are a surrounding frieze and four other large arched windows. On the lower floor of the western front of the nave, another arched portal dominates, with a large arched window above it. In the gable there are two coupled arched windows.

The square church tower adjoins the two northern extensions. It can be entered from the west through a large arched gate. The tower is slightly drawn in opposite the ship and shifted to the northwest. In the bell storey is a boarded attachment that protrudes slightly. There are two sound arcades on each side , above a pointed pyramid roof with a tower ball , a weather vane with the year 1995 and a cross.

Furnishing

The church furnishings are all from 1902, including the west gallery . The interior of the building is flat covered; craftsmen opened the northern extension through two arcades to the ship. Wilhelm Sauer erected an organ on the gallery in 1966 .

A memorial to the west of the building commemorates those who died in the wars of liberation .
