Kagel village church

The evangelical village church Kagel is a hall church in round arch style from the 19th century in Kagel , a district of the community Grünheide (Mark) in the Oder-Spree district in the state of Brandenburg . The church belongs to the parish of Oderland-Spree of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Oberlausitz .

location

The Gerhart-Hauptmann-Schule runs in a north-south direction as a central connecting axis through the town. At the village green , Schulstrasse branches off to the east. On the property enclosed in this way, the church stands on a slightly raised surface that is not fenced .

history

The sacred building was built between 1869 and 1871 in the style of the Schinkel School. The design came from the building inspector Eduard Bürkner; Stretthoff presumably carried out the execution. The church replaces a previous building, which was probably built from half-timbering in the 18th century. There are drawings and a floor plan of this building. In 1990 roofers renovated the church roof. Further work could not be carried out for lack of money. In 2011, a support association was founded to initiate the now necessary basic renovation. The organ was renovated in 2015, and in 2019, damage to the facade and windows as well as the base area were repaired.

Building description

View from the east

The builders mainly used yellow brick for the construction ; Color accents were created with reddish brick that runs around the building in horizontal stripes. The semicircular apse is windowless and strongly indented. Below the conical roof is a row of arcades with coupled columns.

This is followed by the nave , the east side of which is also windowless. In the gable is a circumferential, after open bottom arch at the transition to the roof fries . The north side has a total of four pairs of windows on the lower floor, each with two coupled arched windows, and a clogged arched gate to the east. There are five large arched windows above the gate. These shapes can also be found on the south side of the nave. The west wall is also closed, with another round arch frieze at the transition to the roof.

The west tower is square and strongly drawn in. It can be entered from the west through a large arched portal with a gable above it. There is a small arched window on the north and south sides. The middle floor is separated from the basement by a cornice . There is an arched sound arcade on each of the three accessible sides , followed by another cornice. On top of it sits the tower floor with a round arch-shaped panel into which two coupled sound arcades are embedded, and above it an ox eye . In the gable is a tower clock on each side. The tower concludes with an eight-bent spire with Tower ball , and the cross.

Furnishing

The church furnishings are all from the time the building was built. There is a painting above the cafeteria showing the risen Jesus Christ . In the interior there is a horseshoe gallery ; the roof structure is open. In 1871 Ferdinand Dinse built an organ .

To the south of the church there is an obelisk made of Rüdersdorfer limestone from 1920 and 1940, which commemorates those who fell in the world wars.
