Wahlendorf

Wahlendorf is a village in the municipality of Meikirch in the canton of Bern in Switzerland .

The village is located on the Frienisberg at an altitude of 760 meters in a large forest clearing. Wahlendorf was mentioned for the first time in 1305, and in 1326 it was listed in a document as belonging to the Frienisberg Monastery. In 1380 Wahlendorf was sold to the city of Bern and from 1528 belonged to the Vogtei Frienisberg. Today Wahlendorf belongs to the municipality of Meikirch and although the majority of the population is no longer active in agriculture , it is still a rural village. There is a post bus to Bern every hour.
