A constituency office is supported by a deputy in his constituency established and maintained to the citizens , and especially with its voters to get in touch directly on site.

Constituency offices are repeatedly the object of attacks by political opponents.

German Bundestag

Members of the German Bundestag receive a monthly flat-rate fee in accordance with Section 12, Paragraph 2, Sentence 1, No. 1 of the AbgG to maintain the constituency office.

Neither the Basic Law nor any other laws oblige MPs to maintain such a constituency office. However, due to the proximity to the citizens , MPs expect more information for work in the Bundestag and better chances for re-election . Therefore, direct candidates often have constituency offices. It often happens that constituency offices are maintained in or close to party offices.

If a member of parliament sets up a constituency office, his files are just as protected as in the members of the German Bundestag.
