During the First World War , a brisk freight and passenger traffic developed between the dynamite factory located in Wahn and the station of the Prussian State Railways . In order to bring the factory workers to their workplaces better and more comfortably, RWE built a nearly 2.8 km long tram line between Flughafenstrasse, where it had a connection to the Kleinbahn Siegburg – Zündorf (KSZ), and the Wahn station of the Reichsbahn. The line was completely single-track and laid on its own track. Since no new vehicles could be acquired due to the scarce resources, used cars from Kleve and Cologne were used.
After the end of the First World War, the railway became less and less important because the factory had to be dismantled according to the Versailles Treaty . Only after the establishment of a barracks in Wahn, which was opened in 1933, did traffic pick up again. This increased even more from 1936 when a new military training area was established.
After the end of the Second World War , the train was used for the transports of the Royal Air Force . Due to the war damage, it also ran between the Agger Bridge in Troisdorf and the Sieg Bridge in Siegburg .
After RWE handed over operational management to the city of Porz , into which Wahn was incorporated in 1929, the railway stopped operating on October 1, 1961 due to a lack of interest in tram operations. The vehicle fleet was scrapped, with the exception of a railcar and 2 trailer cars, which were sold on to Kleinbahn Siegburg-Zündorf.
Today, various KVB bus lines operate along the former route .
