history

In 1997, the priest Antonie Rudei and his congregation from the Moldavian Orthodox Church turned to the Russian Orthodox Church abroad. In 2000 he applied for registration in the True Orthodox Church of Moldova . This was rejected by the authorities. After two successful court decisions in Moldova and another administrative rejection, the Church turned to the European Court of Human Rights in 2002 . That year, Andrei Rudei turned to the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad from Vitaly Ustinov. In 2003 he was ordained bishop for the eparchy of Western Europe.

In 2007 the European Court of Human Rights declared the refusal to register to be illegal. It was then officially registered in Moldova. Bishop Antonie ordained two bishops for Birmingham and Brussels. In the same year he teamed up with Bishop Vladimir and his Russian Orthodox Church abroad. In 2008 the two churches separated again. In 2013 Antonie Rudei was appointed archbishop of his church.
