Walda Giyorgis
Walda Giyorgis ( Amharic ወልደ ጊዮርጊስ ) was briefly from May 18th to 21st May 1721 Negus Negest of Ethiopia . He was a son of Emperor Jesus I and half-brother of Tekle Haymanot I , David III. and Asma Sagad .
After the death of his brother David, he was declared emperor by Ras Bitwodad Giyorgis and his followers on May 18, 1721. Both the clergy and the nobility faced Walda Giyorgis and in turn proclaimed his brother Bakaffa emperor.
When Bakaffas died in 1730, he was again a candidate for the throne, but was again deferred by the nobility in favor of his nephew Jesus II .
