Waldschrat is a music group from Münchberg in Upper Franconia .
history
The band was founded around 1979/1980, ie towards the end of the "Krautrock era", from a school band. At first the band sounded clearly experimental and stuck to the sound of the late seventies. But today there are hardly any records left from this time. Even then, Harry Tröger was responsible for the Franconian texts. Back then, the band was active in the youth scene in a purely regional manner.
In the years after 1995, after an almost complete translation, Waldschrat gained fame in the whole of Northern Bavaria and partly beyond, mainly because of the satirical texts by Harry Tröger. In the years from 1995 to 2000, “Schräte” produced five of their own records and, in collaboration with an Ahornberger brewery, two CDs with drinking songs. The many live performances ensured that some of the songs soon became a cult and were sung throughout Upper Franconia. The band broke up in 2003 and in 2005 released the best-of album Waldschrat - collected dwarfs, recorded live at their farewell concert . Although Waldschrat officially no longer exists, they still play every September at the parish fair in the Brücklein district of Neudrossenfeld . They describe the concert as the “annual Waldschrat band meeting annual concert”.
In 2016 the band planned two acoustic concerts in the Helmbrechts Textile Museum as part of its “Kulturwelten” series of events. Due to the great demand from fans in the region, this resulted in a total of eight concerts with a total of around 2000 guests.
