history

By calling for a fundraising campaign, the local poet and writer Peter Rosegger succeeded in building the forest school on the Alpl in 1902 in order to slow down the rural exodus. After the school closed in 1975 due to a lack of students, the house was completely renovated and, with Bertl Petrei, turned into a museum in 1982. The original school room and Rosegger room have been preserved. The forest school also houses the Austrian Hiking Museum.
