Valery Nikolajewitsch Samulin ( Russian Вале́рий Никола́евич Заму́лин ; born March 25, 1968 in Shuravka , Prokhorovka Raion , Belgorod Oblast ) is a Russian historian and writer who specializes in military history. His works deal with the history of the Kursk region during the German-Soviet War .

Life

In 1992 he graduated from the History Faculty of the Belgorod State Pedagogical Institute. Since 1996 he has been mainly concerned with the study of the history of the Battle of Kursk , using previously unused sources from the most important state and military archives in Russia and the USA. In 2002 he first published a paper on the losses of the Soviet armored forces and the course of the Prokhorovka tank battle on July 12, 1943.

Samulin has been a candidate in the history sciences since 2009, which corresponds to the German academic degree Dr. phil. corresponds.

Samulin is the author and co-author of over 40 publications on the history of the Battle of Kursk and the Prokhorovka Tank Battle. The information published by Samulin is very different from the story of the Prokhorovka tank battle published by the former commander of the 5th Guards Tank Army, Main Marshal of the Armored Forces, Pavel Alexejewitsch Rotmistrov, since the early 1960s.
