The Walter Kolb Foundation eV is a non-profit association that was founded in 1959 in honor of the first elected post-war mayor of Frankfurt am Main , Walter Kolb , who died in 1956 .

The association initially dedicated itself to promoting the second education path by awarding scholarships . Over the years, over 1,600 people have been supported in this way.

In the meantime, the association is primarily active in providing training advice. The advice center for further education Rhein-Main , founded in 1987, is one of the oldest of its kind in Germany. It advises politically and denominationally neutral, independent of educational institutions, confidentially and free of charge on questions of professional and general further education.

In addition to orientation advice on deciding on further training, questions about further training offers, admission requirements and financing by sending out individually compiled information materials are answered.

The advice center bears the seal of quality "Certified Institution for Educational Advice" (further education Hessen eV).

Board and funding

The board of directors of the association includes city councilor Sylvia Weber, a retired state secretary . D. Hans-Joachim Suchan, City Councilor Daniela Birkenfeld, Mayor and City Treasurer Uwe Becker, City Councilor Stephan Siegler, City Councilor Nargess Eskandari-Grünberg and City Councilor Eugen Emmerling.

The foundation's work is largely financed by the City of Frankfurt am Main.
