Walter Hardenburg
Walter Ernest Hardenburg (* 1886 ; † 1942 ) was an American engineer .
Hardenburg was accidentally kidnapped by Julio César Arana's people on a trip through the Putumayo during the rubber boom in 1907 and was an eyewitness to the genocide of indigenous people on the Peruvian-Colombian border. His impressions, published under the title The Devil's Paradise , caused a scandal.
