Walter Hefti
Walter Hefti (* 1902 in Zurich ) is a specialist author and engineer in railway technology , whose work is recognized as outstanding in the specialist world in articles on special forms of railways such as rack railways and cable cars , especially mountain railways .
He obtained an engineering degree from the ETH in Zurich in 1926 and worked from 1926 to 1936 as a construction engineer for locomotive construction at SLM in Winterthur , and from 1931 to 1938 in the section traction at Ateliers de Construction Electrique in Feumont in the Dep. Nord, then moved to SIG in Neuhausen until 1948 and worked again as a senior engineer at SLM in Winterthur until 1968 until he retired and wrote his highly regarded standard works about his professional experience in locomotive and railway technology.
