Walter Krause (born May 8, 1953 ) is a former German soccer player who played in a storm .

career

After a season in the Regionalliga Süd at Kickers Offenbach , where he was not used, Krause played for Hamburger SV between 1972 and 1974 . In these two years he only made 20 appearances and two goals in the Bundesliga. He also reached the 1974 DFB Cup final with HSV . In the following years at MSV Duisburg in the Bundesliga as well as at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen and SG Wattenscheid 09 in the 2nd Bundesliga North , he could not fight for a regular place. In the 1974/75 cup season, however, he succeeded in strange things: after he failed with RW Oberhausen in the DFB Cup at Bayern Munich and switched to MSV Duisburg during the winter break, Krause met Bayern again in the following cup round with Duisburg and switched the favorites. With the MSV he even reached the cup final in 1975 , which was lost 1-0 to Eintracht Frankfurt .

It was only when he returned to Offenbach in 1976 that Walter Krause became a regular and top performer. Until 1984 he played for Kickers, with whom he was promoted to the Bundesliga in 1983 and made 26 Bundesliga appearances in his final year as a professional. He then ended his career at SpVgg Bad Homburg . In addition to the Bundesliga promotion with Offenbach, his greatest successes were the two finals in the DFB Cup, 1974 with HSV and 1975 with Duisburg. Krause was especially effective in cup games, scoring 19 goals in his 29 DFB Cup games; he scored two goals in his two European Cup matches.

From 1972 to 1976 Krause completed 18 international matches for the German national team of amateurs , in which he scored four goals. 1974 he reached in Rijeka with this the final of the UEFA Amateur Cup against the selection of Yugoslavia. The final, scheduled for April 28, fell victim to the swampy playing field as a result of previous rain showers; Germany and Yugoslavia were declared tournament winners.
