Walter Mayer (orientalist)

Walter Mayer (born September 6, 1941 in Berlin ; + December 27, 2019 in Irenental / Vienna ) was a German ancient orientalist .

Life

After receiving his doctorate in Münster in 1969 ("Studies on the grammar of Middle Assyrian") and his habilitation ("Nuzi Studies") in 1977 there, he taught there as a professor of ancient oriental philology. In addition to Assyriology, he dealt with the research of the Hurrian.
