Commercial history

"Walter Messmer - House for Fine Coffee and Tea" was founded in 1934 by Ernst Jacob Walter Messmer , a businessman from Hamburg-Berne . He remained managing director until the company was initially converted into an OHG (1967) under Walter Peter Messmer and Klaus Lothar Messmer . When converting to KG a year later both were with the same shareholding limited partners , personally liable partner was the management company Walter Messmer mbH .

In 1979 the KG was dissolved with a view to taking over the company. The business was taken over by the newly founded Walter Messmer GmbH (share capital 500,000 DM) based in Norderstedt , managing directors were Walter Peter Messmer and Cuno Rothfos , who was the managing partner of the taking over arko GmbH from Wahlstedt. In 1980 the last member of the Messmer family left the management, the company's headquarters were relocated to Wahlstedt , and business activities were largely discontinued.

In 1984 the now almost insubstantial company ( share capital 100,000 DM) was sold to Elisabeth Hartwig, wife of a leading arko employee, and the headquarters moved to Bad Bramstedt . The business, a mail order business for coffee, pastries and confectionery, ended in 2002 due to bankruptcy .
