Walter Nikkels

Walter Nikkels (born November 25, 1940 in Lobith ) is a Dutch typographer , graphic artist and postage stamp artist.

He lives and works in Dordrecht and Cologne . From 1985 to 2008 he was a professor at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . He was also the architect of such important exhibitions as documenta 7 in Kassel (1982) or the new museum in Kleve .

He designed several postage stamps for the postal administration of the Netherlands. In 2006 he also designed the joint postage stamp for the Netherlands and Germany for the 400th birthday of Rembrandt .

  • Charles-Nypels Prize (1989) for his typographic works
