Walter Schlueter (racing driver)

Walter Schlueter (* 1911 ; † 1977 ) was a German rally driver . In 1954 he became European rally champion .

Career

In 1953, Schlueter was co-driver of European Rally Champion Helmut Polensky . A year later he became European rally champion himself with a DKW special class .

DKW founded a sports department in the fall of 1953. In the following year, Walter Schlüter, Gustav Menz and Heinz Meier took the first three places in the overall ranking of the European Rally Championship.

On January 31, 1954, he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf for his athletic achievements.
