Walter W. Powell

Walter W. Powell (born August 15, 1951 ) is an American sociologist and professor at Stanford University .

research

In his research he is particularly concerned with organizational theory and economic sociology . One of his most influential works is the concept of isomorphism, developed together with Paul J. DiMaggio . This implies that organizations emulate their behavior and processes from other organizations - not to increase efficiency, but to gain legitimacy.
