Walter Wohlfeld
Walter Wohlfeld (born June 26, 1917 in Hamburg ; † February 26, 2002 in Wuppertal ) was a German painter who was considered the "painter of the Bergisches Land ". He was also a member of the international group rbk .
Life
He was educated at the Art Academy in Hamburg , the Art Academy Berlin and the Werkkunstschule Wuppertal . Study trips took him to the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Italy, Austria, Yugoslavia, Poland, Belgium, England and Switzerland. From 1944 until his death he lived in Wuppertal-Cronenberg .
His works have been shown in many group and solo exhibitions at home and abroad; many were purchased by museums, private collections, and city administrations, as well as government agencies.
Awards
- 1961: Art prize of the castle building association Burg ad Wupper
- 1963: Ludwig Lindner Prize of the Ring of Visual Artists (rbk)

- 1997: A life with pictures , book, 76 pages, with numerous illustrations, hardcover with colored dust jacket, with a foreword by Johannes Rau, edition of 1,000 copies is sold out.
- Countless works (watercolors, acrylic, oil, ink, chalk) from over five decades.
