Walther Wegscheider
Walther Wegscheider (born April 11, 1954 in Graz ) is an Austrian dentist and university professor. He is the head of the University Clinic for Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine at the LKH University Hospital Graz .
Life
Walther Wegscheider was a scholarship holder in the USA from 1970 to 1971 . After graduation in 1972 at the Academic Gymnasium in Graz , he studied human medicine at the Karl-Franzens-University of Graz , where in 1978 the promotion to Doctor took place. In 1976 he received the dental technician diploma and subsequently trained as a specialist in dentistry, oral medicine and maxillofacial medicine at the University Clinic for Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine in Graz .
From 1980 to 1984 he worked as a university assistant and senior physician at the University Clinic for Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine Graz in the Department of Prosthetics and Materials Science. In 1981 he made a study visit at the University of Tübingen , 1984 at the University Clinic Mainz and 1986 at the Branemark Clinic Gothenburg and in 1983 he passed the exam to become a trainer for the dental technician trade. From 1984 to 1988 he worked as a university assistant in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Periodontology. In 1989 he received his habilitation. Since 1990 he has headed the working group for removable prosthetics and implant prosthetics.
From 1999 to 2002 he was deputy chairman of the study commission for human medicine. Since 2004 he has been the spokesman for the Dental Medicine Study Commission and Rector of the Medical University of Graz and from 2005 he was deputy head of the Clinical Department for Dentistry Graz. Wegscheider was appointed university professor for dentistry with effect from October 1, 2008.
He was also on the extended board of the Austrian Society for Implantology in Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine. In 2012 he was on the advisory board of the umbrella organization of the Austrian Society for Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine.
Walther Wegscheider wrote numerous publications on dentistry, oral medicine and maxillofacial medicine.
