Günter Steigleder

Günter Steigleder (born June 16, 1925 in Heidersbach ; † January 25, 1995 ) was a functionary of the SED . He was chairman of the District Party Control Commission (BPKK) Suhl of the SED.

Life

Steigleder, the son of a shoemaker, attended elementary school and completed an apprenticeship as a gunsmith. He worked in this profession. In 1943 he was drafted into the army for military service. From 1944 to 1946 he was a British prisoner of war .

After his return in 1947 he became a mechanic at VEB Feinmechanik Suhl . He joined the SED. From 1949 he was secretary of the SED company party organization (BPO) in VEB Feinmeß Suhl, then secretary of the SED-BPO in VEB Simsonwerke Suhl. After attending the district party school, he initially worked again as a secretary of an SED-BPO, this time in the "Ernst-Thälmann-Werk" , a weapons factory in Suhl. Between 1956 and 1961 he then acted as first secretary of the SED district leadership in Schmalkalden , then from 1961 to 1967 he was an employee of the SED district leadership in Suhl. From 1967 to 1989 Steigleder was chairman of the BPKK Suhl, a member of the SED district leadership and, since February 1974, its secretariat.
