Wan school

The Wan School or Anhui School ( Chinese  皖 派 , Pinyin Wǎnpài ) was a regional Confucian school of Anhui during the Qing Dynasty , whose scholars partly shed a new light on the understanding of the classical Confucian scriptures. The word Wan ( , Wǎn ) is short for Anhui Province. The school representatives were Jiang Yong and Dai Zhen .

The scholars of this school advocated a philological or textual study of the Confucian classics to explore and explain their deeper meaning. Other important members of the school were Cheng Yaotian , Duan Yucai , Wang Niansun, and Wang Yinzhi .
