Wandering rope load

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The moving rope load occurs in lifting gear with counterweight and transport rope with pulley . It is the change in weight that is caused by the unequal rope lengths on the side of the weight and the counterweight, and means that the drive must move a variable load. By rope weight compensating chains or sub-parts , the migratory rope load can be eliminated.

It is of constructive importance in ship lifts and in mining for co-pumping .
