Jacques Rougerie

Jacques Rougerie (born July 11, 1945 in Paris ) is a French architect who has made a name for himself among other things with projects for the exploration and colonization of the oceans.

Frank Schätzing describes him and some of his projects in the book News from an Unknown Universe . Rougerie is known as an "underwater architect". He wants to create habitats for humans in the ocean . This activity began in 1977 with the underwater station " Galatheé ". Among other things, he designed the so-called " Sea Orbiter " together with NASA , a 51 meter high research station for oceanographic research. In 2008 Rougerie was elected to the Académie des Beaux-Arts .
