Wang Xiaoning
Wang Xiaoning ( Chinese 王小宁 , Pinyin Wáng Xiǎoníng ; born January 7, 1950 in Shenyang ) is a Chinese engineer and dissident .
Wang Xiaoning published texts in Yahoo forums in 2000 and 2001 , in which he advocated democratic reforms and the end of one-party rule in China . In September 2002, he was arrested and sentenced to ten years in prison. His case attracted international attention as Yahoo provided crucial information to the Chinese authorities, as they did when Shi Tao was arrested .
On April 18, 2007, Xiaoning's wife, Yu Ling, tried Yahoo in a San Francisco court for human rights abuses.
