Racibórz coat of arms
The coat of arms of the city of Racibórz (German Ratibor) consists of two fields created by splitting. It goes back to an old seal of the city from the late 13th century.
description
The city's coat of arms is split. In the front field there is a half silver eagle on a red background. In the rear field there is a half silver wheel with five full spokes and two half spokes on a red background.
Before 1945
Before 1945, the wheel in the coat of arms was also silver. The wheel had two half spokes and three full spokes.
In this form it was u. a. depicted in Johann Siebmacher's coat of arms from 1605.
Until 2013
Until 2013 the coat of arms had a gold wheel.
history
As early as 1296 there was a 55 mm large seal with the inscription "SIGILLVM CIVITATIS RATIBOR" with half an eagle and half a wheel on a certificate. The symbols also remained unchanged on later seals.
In the first half of the 19th century there was a coat of arms with a spangenhelm and two buffalo horns as decoration.
In 2013 the coat of arms was changed. The color of the wheel was changed from gold to silver. Thus, the historical colors of the coat of arms were restored.
The coat of arms as jewelry
The coat of arms is on some buildings as a facade decoration, u. a. on the building of the city administration and in its old form on a former restaurant building in Widok (German view ).
