Michael von Bulmerincq

Michael Eugene of Bulmerincq (* June 26 . Jul / 8. July  1805 greg. In Birkenhof in Riga ; † 28. July 1893 in Warsaw ) was a Baltic German doctor.

Life

Bulmerincq studied medicine in Dorpat (now Tartu, Estonia ) from 1822 . Here he joined the Baltic Corporation Fraternitas Rigensis . 1829 doctorate he became Dr. med. and from 1830 he was a doctor in Saint Petersburg . In 1831 he became the personal physician of Princes Alexander and Ernst of Württemberg. After he was retired as a councilor in 1834, he began studying forestry in Tharandt . In the service of the Russian forest ranger corps since 1838, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1839. In 1855, Bulmerincq was adopted with the rank of major general. This was followed by trips to Germany, Austria, France and England to study smallpox vaccination . From 1876 von Bulmerincq lived in Warsaw.

From December 12, 1831 he was married to Amalie Charlotte von Bulmerincq, daughter of the doctor, poet and botanist Carl Bernhard Trinius . The orientalist Alexander von Bulmerincq was her grandson.
