Coat of arms of Serbia and Montenegro
This coat of arms was that of the former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and then that of the confederation of Serbia and Montenegro . It was adopted in 1993 and replaced the coat of arms of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia . The coat of arms, kept in a modern design, combined the coats of arms of Serbia and Montenegro . The coats of arms of both states bear a double-headed eagle.
In red, a gold-armored, silver, gold-tongued double - headed eagle with a quartered red breast shield on which the silver Serbian cross stands in the first and third fields and a running golden lion in the second and third fields .
The confederation of Serbia and Montenegro was dissolved on June 3, 2006 when the independence of Montenegro was proclaimed. Both states now use their original coats of arms again.
