The coat of arms of the city of Tarnowskie Góry ( Tarnowitz ) dates back to the 16th century and consists of three fields.

description

On July 25, 1562, Georg Friedrich I awarded the city the coat of arms with three fields that is still used today. Heraldically on the right it shows the half Silesian eagle on a silver background, but without its ornamentation consisting of a breast moon and cross. Heraldically to the left is a golden wing on a black background, which indicates the Upper Silesian eagle. Under the wing there are sticks and irons on a silver background as symbols for mining.

In 1954 it was replaced by a coat of arms with a wing and mallet and iron. The wing was on a blue background, the mining symbols on a green background. In 1990 the green background was replaced by a red one. In 2002 the coat of arms from 1562 was restored.
