Warabimochi

Warabimochi ( Japanese 蕨 餅 ) is a jelly-like Japanese sweet in the form of small dumplings. The main ingredients are bracken starch , water and sugar. They are covered with kinako , a flour made from soybeans . They are especially eaten in the Kinki region during the warm seasons . As in China and Korea, they are traditionally offered as a street snack and sold by street vendors who often sing a traditional song. 

Warabimochi filled with ice cream have been increasingly sold in recent years. They are called Yawamochi Ice ( ヤ ワ モ チ ア イ ス , Yawamochi Aisu ). It is a product of the Imuraya Seika KK company ( 井村 屋 製 菓 株式会社 , Imuraya Seika Kabushiki-gaisha )

A similar sweet is kuzumochi .
