Warin von Köln († September 21, 985 ) was Archbishop of Cologne from 976 to 985 .

The ancestry of Warin, who was called Vuerin in Latin , is not clear. Before his elevation to Archbishop of Cologne Warin was mentioned as a cleric at Cologne Cathedral .

In 976 Warin succeeded Archbishop Gero .

Between 979 and 985 he drove the abbot Sandrad from Gladbach, whom he had been slandered for being more in the service of the Bishop of Liège than in his service. In his place he appointed an abbot, who within a short time squandered the fortune, the possessions and the relics .

In 983 Emperor Otto II entrusted him with the education of his son, Otto III. Which on 25 December 983 by the Archbishops Willigis of Mainz and John of Ravenna in Aachen for the king was crowned. After the death of Emperor Otto II, Warin gave the young Otto III. in 984 to Heinrich the brawler and openly supported Heinrich in his pursuit of the crown .

After his death on September 21, 985 in the St. Martin monastery in Cologne, Archbishop Everger succeeded him .
