Everger († June 11, 999 in Cologne ) was Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Cologne from 985 to 999 .

Nothing is known about the origin and date of birth of Archbishop Everger. Before he became Archbishop of Cologne, he had already taken on activities in the area around the Cologne Cathedral Chapter .

In 986, the archbishop allegedly transferred the monks of Gladbach Abbey to the Groß St. Martin Abbey in Cologne, where he forced the few clerics who lived there to profess or leave. He divided the goods of the Gladbach Abbey among his knights. In the end, he moved the monks back to their former abbey without reimbursing them for their goods. In St. Kunibert it was later claimed that the archbishop had "plundered" the monastery. Both charges are from a later period, although it is unclear where the anger against the archbishop originated and to what extent these charges correspond to the facts.

In 989, according to a forged document, Archbishop Everger gave the Rodenkirchen mansion , which comprised large parts of what is now the Rodenkirchen district of Cologne, to the Groß St. Martin Abbey. The same abbey was then given the Fronhof in Esch and its lands in 989 . In 991, Archbishop Everger arranged for Empress Theophanu to be buried in St. Pantaleon .

After his death on June 11, 999, Everger was buried in Cologne Cathedral .
