The Wartburg primary school is a primary school in the Gievenbeck district of the city of Münster . She is the main winner of the 2008 German School Prize .

history

The Wartburg elementary school was founded in 1961 as the Evangelical elementary school Martin Luther II and renamed the Wartburg elementary school in 1963. In 1968, as part of the school reform, it was divided into a Wartburg primary school and a Wartburg secondary school. In the following year, an afternoon school was founded under the auspices of the Inner Mission , which was primarily intended to take care of socially disadvantaged children by primary school teachers. This was done in collaboration with mothers and a teacher.

The concept of an all-day school has been developed since 1975; the all-day branch of the Wartburg primary school was put into operation in the 1979/1980 school year. In 1980 the all-day branch moved into a building in the Michael elementary school. In 1981 the all-day project received the primary school award from the primary school working group. In the summer of 1996 the school moved to a new building; an integrative class was set up for the first time this year.

The former headmistress Gertraud Greiling received the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2007. In April 2008 the school was awarded the seal of approval for individual support , and in December 2008 the main prize of the German School Prize was awarded . The school is a member of the school association Blick über den Fence .
