Wuppertal-Langerfeld water reservoir
The water tank on the Ehrenberg in Wuppertal-Langerfeld was built from 1902 to 1904 in the form of an underground three-aisled barrel vault and based on the designs of the Aachen hydraulic engineering professor Otto Intze . Apart from the shield wall, only mass concrete was used as building material .
Fed with the water of the Ennepe dam , in the construction of which the municipality of Langerfeld contributed financially, the commissioning of the underground elevated tank by means of a pumping station in Schweflinghausen ended Langerfeld's water shortage and from then on supplied the southern parts of the municipalities of Langerfeld and Schwelm with drinking water until 1979. Its capacity was around 950 m³ on a gross floor area of approx. 25 × 10 m.
On May 15, 1996, the water reservoir was entered on the city's list of monuments.
The container has been used as a residential building since 2002.
