Water ring monitor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The water ring monitor is a mobile water cannons of the fire department . It is used when large amounts of water have to be brought to a specific area over a longer period of time.

construction

The water ring monitor consists of a ring-shaped stand, which is filled with water via one or two B-hoses and thus gives the device greater stability, and a jet pipe . The mouthpiece of the jet pipe - and thus the shape of the jet - can be changed. The maximum throw of the monitor depends on the pressure and the diameter of the mouthpiece.

If necessary, you can also build an improvised water ring monitor yourself from a distributor , support elbow , B-jet pipe and C-hose . To do this, the jet pipe is connected to the central distributor outlet by means of a support elbow (opposite to its usual flow direction). The C-hose is laid in a circle around the distributor and coupled to the distributor outlets for the 1st and 2nd pipe and flooded. It serves as a good stabilizer for the thrower. The outlets of the ring line at the distributor should be closed again after they have been flooded, in order to prevent the ring line from twitching with pressure fluctuations. However, manufacturers point out that this is not intended use because the direction of flow is not taken into account and two fixed couplings are coupled together.
