Water switch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A water switch is a component in washing machines . It directs the flow of water, which comes from the machine's water connection via the solenoid valve , to the various detergent compartments, i.e. the prewash, main wash and fabric softener compartment.

In general, a driving synchronous motor , a gear via gears , until a position signal to the control unit confirms the desired position and the water supply via the controlled chamber takes place. The mixture of water and the respective detergent or fabric softener, the washing liquor , is then passed through a funnel with a hose attached under the water switch into the drum of the washing machine and thus to the laundry, where the liquor unfolds its effect.

In addition to other components in washing machines, water switches are not designated wear parts, but are particularly affected by limescale deposits ( calcification ) depending on the regional water hardness .
