WatSan , the abbreviation for sanitation water and is a WHO - standard for water treatment and disposal of waste water in the emergency relief and humanitarian aid .

The supply of clean drinking water has high priority in disaster and refugee camps . WatSan tries on the one hand to treat the raw water , on the other hand to prevent the main reason for water pollution , poor hygiene , through sanitary measures such as the construction of latrines and grease traps or the hygiene training of local authorities.
