Wat Khung Taphao
The Wat Khung Taphao ( Thai วัด คุ้ง ตะเภา ) is a Buddhist temple complex ( Wat ) in Uttaradit , Uttaradit Province , in Northern Thailand .
Wat Khung Taphao is located in the community ( tambon ) Khung Taphao, originally on the banks of the Maenam Nan ( Nan River ).
Building history
Today's Wat Khung Taphao was founded during the brief Thonburi era, although a temple of unknown origin called Wat Khung Samphao ( วัด คุ้ง สำเภา ), which probably dated from the time of the Ayutthaya kingdom , existed before that. After a flood, the Ubosot was rebuilt in 1929.
Later the course of the Nan changed a little, so that the temple is now about 700 meters from the river bank.
