Water nymph

The Water Nymph was a 27-meter-long English brig built in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1840 . The ship ran aground on the night of August 29, 1875 in the Baltic Sea near Ahrenshoop . The wreck is located about 150 m from the beach at a depth of 3 m. Due to an unsuccessful recovery attempt after the accident , the ship is with the bow facing the sea.

The ship was discovered in 1976. In 2002, his remains were examined and identified in advance of a beach cleanup . The wreck is one of around 1,000 known sites of this type on the coast of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .
