The Web archive Switzerland is the national website archive of Switzerland and serves as long-term archiving of websites .

The Swiss web archive was created through cooperation between the Swiss National Library and the cantonal libraries as well as special libraries such as B. the Swiss Social Archives , because websites are "indispensable sources" of z. B. Can be social history.

The aim of the archive is to collect “nationally relevant” Swiss websites (such as that of the Historical Lexicon of Switzerland ), to archive them in the long term and to make them accessible. Due to copyright reasons, access to the website archive is restricted to information stations of the participating libraries, where copying of information from the websites is prevented by software.
