Weberberg (Biberach an der Riss)
The Weberberg in Biberach an der Riss is a historic guild settlement and was an important production site for Barchent from the 15th century to the beginning of the 17th century .
At the beginning of the 16th century, around 400 looms were in operation on Weberberg; in the heyday of the Barchent trade, an estimated quarter of the Biberach population lived from weaving. Trade with Barchent made the city rich, but came to a largely standstill with the outbreak of the Thirty Years War .
The Weberberg is the oldest quarter of the city and, with its historic buildings, is one of the main stops on any city tour.
