The Wedge Tomb of Killough West is located in the townland of the same name ( Irish Cill Achaidh Thiar , or Cill Achaidh ( German  "field church" )) near Cahermore in the west of the Beara Peninsula in County Cork in Ireland . It is located on a hill in a meadow west of the R572 (Dursey Island Road) and is accessible via a stile . Wedge Tombs ( German  "Keilgräber" ), formerly also called "wedge-shaped gallery grave", are aisle-free, mostly undivided megalithic complexes from the late Neolithic and early Bronze Age .

Killough West is a typical, somewhat overturned Wedge Tomb. The massive cover plate is massive (2.7 m long and 1.7 m wide). All traces of the external stabilization of the chamber are missing and the inside is filled with reading stones .
