The wayside cross

The wayside cross on the K 44 is between Binsfeld and Rommelsheim in the Düren district , North Rhine-Westphalia, right next to the district road .

The stone cross was made from red sandstone in 1857 . It is painted over with oil paint. On the stepped base stands a broad pillar with Gothic tracery and a weathered inscription with the year 1857. Above the top with rolled tendrils there is a simple cross with a cast iron body. The damaged inscription shows that the 94-year-old Heinrich Wingen from Rommelsheim died here on December 26, 1857.

The wayside cross was entered on March 7, 1985 in the monument list of the municipality of Nörvenich under No. 4.
