Crossroads in Herrgottsacker

The wayside cross in Herrgottsacker on the outskirts of the small Palatinate town of Deidesheim is a field cross that is considered a cultural monument under the Monument Protection Act of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate .

The cross is north of Deidesheim and about 600 meters west of the German Wine Route in the hallway "Im Herrgottsacker". It is located at a crossroads from which you can climb a four-step staircase to the cross. The area immediately around the cross is framed by a metal fence. The cross, like the body, is made of yellow sandstone. It stands on a simple base and dates from around 1925.

The following inscription is inscribed on the base:

“NO ONE HAS A GREATER LOVE THAN THOSE WHO DEDICATED HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS.

JOH. 15.13. "

The cross is 3.50 m, its base 1.50 m high. The body is 1.10 m long. Heinrich Weber and his wife Apollonia Schäffer had the cross set up for their son Jakob, who died in the First World War.
