The white- fronted weaver ( Amblyospiza albifrons ) is the only species of the genus Amblyospiza within the family of weaver birds (Ploceidae).
description
The white-forehead weaver has brown plumage, which covers the entire body, except on the forehead and on the lower wing side, which have a white swab. The beak and legs are also colored brown. The lower abdomen of the females is striped to varying degrees. The birds grow up to 19 cm.
Distribution and way of life
The species occurs throughout sub- Saharan Africa . There she lives mainly in the shrub savannah and marshland, riverside regions, which she roams in search of water and food, especially seeds and smaller insects. The birds live in pairs or in small groups.
Reproduction
The males of this species are polygamous. The birds nest in small communal nests made of grass that they build in the reeds or tall grass. The female lays up to 3 eggs in the nest, which the female hatches. The breeding season is 9-17 days. The nestling duration of the young is about 3 weeks.

Although the population figures for this species are not known, the IUCN classifies this species as Least Concern .
