The Weidaer jute spinning and weaving mill was a German company.

history

It was founded on December 2, 1897 with a capital of 1,200,000 marks. In 1945 over 1,000 workers worked in the factory. In 1949 it became a state-owned company . In 1990 production was stopped.

Personalities

  • Hermann Robert Geithner (born July 4, 1875 in Weida ; † in the 20th century), director and board member of Weidaer Jute-Spinnerei und Weberei AG. Geithner completed elementary school and then his apprenticeship at the Pfeiffer brothers company, women's fabric weaving mill in Weida. He then worked in the worsted spinning industry for several years. Since 1899 he worked for the Weidaer jute spinning mill, in purchasing and sales as well as in financial and tax matters. Geithner was also chairman of the supervisory board of the Braugemeinde Weida eGmbH .
