Weidenberg (noble family)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The von Weidenberg family was a knightly Franconian family from Weidenberg .

The family can be traced in Weidenberg from 1223 to 1414 or 1425. There are references to family members as Brandenburg-Kulmbach officials . The Weidenberg rule, later organized in the knightly canton of Gebürg , passed to the von Künsberg family after the Weidenbergs died out and was divided into two areas of rule with an upper and a lower castle. The owners of the Upper Castle were later the von Lindenfels , until finally both possessions in the Principality of Bayreuth were dissolved.
