Historical background

Officials of the Oberamt Münchberg – Stockenroth – Hallerstein

Around 1680, the offices of Münchberg , Stockenroth and Hallerstein were combined to form a senior office with headquarters in Stockenroth Castle . In 1731 the clerk and judge Johann Georg Hartung (* December 5, 1687; † August 29, 1755) built his official residence on the ruins of Sparneck Castle . His son-in-law Johann Siegmund Friedrich Feez built a new office building not far away in 1763, the so-called Feez'sche Amtshaus , which currently houses a bakery. The Oberamt was dissolved in 1779 and relocated to Hof.
