Hermann Friedrich of Hohenzollern-Hechingen

Hermann Friedrich von Hohenzollern-Hechingen (born January 11, 1665 in Hechingen , † January 23, 1733 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a Count of Hohenzollern-Hechingen and an imperial field marshal .

Life

Hermann Friedrich was the second son of Prince Philipp von Hohenzollern-Hechingen (1616–1671) from his marriage to Marie Sidonie (1635–1686), daughter of Margrave Hermann Fortunat von Baden-Rodemachern .

He was first a canon in Strasbourg and Cologne, but left the canonries and performed as a captain in the Austrian military service, where he was in the wars against the Turks distinguished. On May 19, 1704 he was promoted to Sergeant General , on April 2, 1708 to Lieutenant Field Marshal , on May 10, 1716 to Feldzeugmeister and finally to Field Marshal on October 14, 1723 .

Later he was governor of Freiburg im Breisgau and resided primarily in Arberg .

Marriages and offspring

Hermann Friedrich was married twice. He concluded his first marriage on September 8, 1704 with Princess Eleonore Magdalene von Brandenburg-Bayreuth (1673–1711), daughter of Margrave Christian Ernst von Brandenburg-Bayreuth , with whom he had a daughter:

  • Eleonore Elisabeth Auguste (1705–1762), canoness in Hall in Tirol

His second wife was Josepha (1694–1738), daughter of Count Franz Albrecht von Oettingen zu Spielberg on May 27, 1714 in Oettingen . From this marriage he had the following children:
